Accommodation

Here you can find the updated details on accommodation for adults and students

Campus allocations and Adults’ Hotels

All delegate schools have now been allocated to one of Brookhouse’s two Campuses – either Karen or Runda. You can find out which your school has been allocated to by logging into the main Round Square website HERE and scrolling to the bottom of your school’s profile, where you will see your campus allocation. From this you will also know which hotel your adult delegates will be staying in:

  • Those of you on the Runda Campus will be staying in the Trademark Hotel located at the Village Market along Limuru Road. It is approximately 8.5 km from Brookhouse Runda Campus

  • Those of you on the Karen Campus will be staying in Ole Sereni Hotel along Mombasa road. It is about 11 Km from Brookhouse Karen Campus.

Student accommodation

Student accommodation will be a combination of Homestay (1 night) a Safari Park Camp (1 night) and the remainder of the week at Qwetu, a new University Hostel in Nairobi (opened in July 2023) in close proximity to Brookhouse, where we have exclusive use for the duration of the RSIC.

This hybrid plan keeps travel time to a minimum and maximises the time for the conference programme, whilst still ensuring that every student has a homestay experience in Kenya. Student delegates will be able to leave the majority of their luggage at Qwetu for the whole week, and take an overnight bag to the homestay and to the safari camp.

The Hostel rooms are fully furnished with free Wi-Fi and 24 hour security with CCTV camera surveillance and secure access key card to rooms.

Risk Assessment for Qwetu

You can download the latest Risk Assessment for Qwetu here.

Q: Will my students be sharing? if so how many to a room, and will they be with students from other schools?

Yes, all students will be sharing, 2- 6 students in a room, and they will likely be mixed with students of from other delegate schools. Male and Female students will be accommodated in different sections at Qwetu. All delegates will spend two nights away from the Qwetu – one in Homestay on their (Democracy Day) and one in the Park (Adventure Day).

Q: What bathroom facilities are there, and how are they distributed/ shared?

Each room has its own bathroom

Q: Will bedlinen and towels be provided?

Yes, both will be provided at the Hostel (and at the hotels!). Your students don’t need to bring towels for showering, though we have suggested they may want to bring a small personal towel to carry with them (see packing list).

Homestay

Brookhouse families will provide homestay accommodation and a first-hand experience of African hospitality for student delegates.

As is standard practice for Brookhouse Schools, all homestay families will be required to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate from the Kenyan Authorities. This certificate is provided once an individual’s background has been checked and it certifies that there is no criminal record. A sample of this certificate can be seen on the left, and the guidance provided to Homestay Families, which is in line with the requirements of Round Square’s Exchange Protocols.
