Apply for a bursary or award
Each year some Awards, Placements and Bursaries are offered in conjunction with the RSIC. In all cases Conference delegate fees are waived for the award winner, bursary recipients or successful placement candidates.
Discovery Bursaries
Discovery Bursaries are available to cover delegate fees for those students from Round Square Global Member Schools whose financial circumstances mean that they could not otherwise participate in the conference. Discovery Bursaries cover the full cost of delegate fees for the RSIC, but participants (or their school) will be responsible for funding their own flights/ travel to and from country.
In order to put forward a student for a Discovery Bursary, the RS Rep will be asked to explain on the application form why, without this bursary, their student would otherwise be unable to finance their own Conference participation. The application must be supported a signed letter from the Head of School confirming the student’s financial circumstances, attached to the online form.

Bursary applicants are asked to make every effort to part-fund their participation in other ways and will be asked to outline what they have done to supplement their bursary application with income from other sources (e.g. part-time work or personal fundraising).
Successful applicants will agree to submit a full report to the Round Square following the RSIC. In accepting a Bursary, applicants will be asked to confirm that they have not received support from any other RS Bursary fund and are committed to taking part in the trip.
There are two closing dates for bursary applications. The first round will be awarded by 31st March 2023., and the second round will awarded after 30th April 2023. In both cases the RS Rep will be notified within one week of the closing date. The bursary amount will then be deducted from the school delegation’s final balance payment.
If you are submitting bursary applications on behalf of your students, or have students that are submitting applications themselves, please include them in the student numbers specified on your Letter of Commitment (LoC). When you upload your signed LoC you will be asked whether any of the students included in your numbers have pending bursary applications, on the understanding that you will be able to remove them from the total if you need to do so at a future point, should their application be unsuccessful.
