With Letters of Commitment for the Round Square International Conference 2023 coming in fast, we are delighted to invite entries for two awards that are linked to the conference:
The Roy McComish Art Award is an annual worldwide art competition in which students are invited to submit artwork in any medium to capture the theme of the Round Square International Conference. The Award is named after the founding Headmaster of Box Hill School, which was itself a founding member of Round Square.
For this year’s Roy McComish Art Award, students are asked to submit artwork in any medium to capture the RSIC theme of “The New Africa”. Students of all ages in all Round Square schools are welcome to enter (not just those attending the RSIC). The closing date for the competition is 31st July 2023. Please upload entries using THIS LINK
Awards will include 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, as well as a small number of certificates for Highly Commended entries. Judges will look for creativity, skill and interpretation of the theme.
Artwork can be created in any medium but must be submitted in a digital format. Videos should be no longer than two minutes. Images should be no larger than 10Mb and in JPEG format. Please ask students to name their file STUDENT NAME - NAME OF SCHOOL.
The Kurt Hahn Prize is awarded by Round Square to a single student or a small group of students in recognition of an exceptional act of service to others. You can read more about it, download the nomination form and submit a nomination HERE. Please read the rules before making a nomination.
All nominations must be received by the end of this month (31st March) and will be collated by the Round Square Chief Executive for consideration by the awarding panel in April. The Kurt Hahn Prize winner(s) will be notified by 12th May and announced publicly on 5th June (Kurt Hahn’s birthday). They will be invited to speak at the 2023 Round Square International Conference in Kenya, with the cost of their attendance being met by the Alumni of Schule Schloss Salem, who fund the award.
