Karibuni Brookhouse

Brookhouse is most fortunate to call Kenya home, for our backdrop is one that encourages you, every day, to be an aware and committed individual. Spend five minutes in Nairobi and you are struck by the bustling commotion of a city full of energy, rising to meet the challenges

of 21st Century living.

I have had the privilege to live here for nearly 35 years and have witnessed far-reaching change, in a land full of hope and courage, talent and promise.

This year ’s conference theme, ‘The New Africa’ strikes me as particularly pertinent as Round Square comes together in 2023 to consider how we might make a difference for the future, and how we might ensure productive and sustainable ways to work together.

I am saddened though that we are minus one dear friend, who I’m sure would have delighted in sharing his infectious laughter with us as President and Patron of Round Square since its inception - His Majesty King Constantine - and I hope this conference will do justice to his legacy.

Hosting such a conference says much about the spirit of cooperation and commitment that prevails at Brookhouse throughout those months of planning and organisation. I am deeply proud and most grateful to the students and staff at Brookhouse who have worked so enthusiastically and with such good humour to make this conference a reality. In particular, my thanks to Mr Willie Ng’ang’a, our Round Square Rep, who has embodied selfless commitment and dedication.

Enjoy your week, and most of all enjoy being part of the Round Square global family.
