Some students focused on the ways in which Africa is asserting itself in so many areas of endeavour, from tech to finance, as a continent of youthful entrepreneurship. Others considered how we honour Africa’s traditions and past achievements without being limited to only those areas for the future. This theme serves many interpretations, and we hope that it leads to meaningful discussion during our baraza groups and guest speaker forums.

Designing the conference logo proved a collaborative task, with such an interesting conference theme as The New Africa. After much deliberation we chose to focus attention on an African footprint to raise the question of our future identity in the 21st Century.
This is what inspired our design, housing it inside the iconic Round Square red box. The logo begs the question: what will Africa leave as its mark in the next half-century?
